How do I split a PDF by file size?
Select your PDF, enter a target in MB or KB, and choose Split PDF by Size. KissPDF measures each generated page range and lets you download the resulting smaller documents.
Can I split a PDF into specific file sizes?
You can set a target maximum size. The tool creates the largest consecutive page groups that fit, but the files will not all have exactly the same byte count.
Can I split a PDF into 1 MB files?
Yes. Enter 1 and choose MB. If a single page is larger than 1 MB, that page must remain an oversized one-page PDF unless the source is compressed first.
Why do the output PDFs contain different page counts?
Some pages use more bytes than others, and PDF resources can be shared across a page range. The tool varies the page count to keep each measured output near the same target limit.
Does splitting by size compress the PDF?
No. It divides pages into several PDF files without intentionally lowering image quality. Use Compress PDF when you need one smaller document.
Will every output be below the selected size?
Every multi-page part is kept at or below the measured target. A single source page that already exceeds the target is saved alone and identified after processing.
Does the page order change?
No. Every page is assigned once in its original order, and each output filename includes its source page range.
Are my PDF files uploaded?
Your PDF is not uploaded for processing. It is split and measured locally in your browser.
